Who are we

Jos Langens (‘87)
Founder & Portfolio Manager of CTA Fund

As the son of a farmer, Jos Langens learned early on that change is the only constant. Environmental regulations, fluctuating export markets, and unpredictable weather patterns continually influence farm operations, making adaptability essential to maintaining continuity.

After earning his Master’s degree from Nyenrode Business University, Jos began his career in 2013 as a commodity trader at Interfood, a leading dairy trading house. He blended his hands-on farm experience with the fast-paced dynamics of the trading floor, gaining in-depth expertise in commodity trading and risk management. He later brought this knowledge to Kerry Group, a global dairy producer and processor, in Ireland.

Since 2018, Jos has traded commodity derivatives independently. He quickly discovered that a broader perspective created more value than focusing narrowly on one sector. Expanding into other agricultural and energy commodities, while maintaining a net-long position in equity markets, deepened his approach.

By anticipating shifts in markets and embracing diversification, Jos founded a Commodity Trading Advisor (CTA) and Managed Futures Hedge Fund in late 2022.

Jos lives in downtown Haarlem (NL) with his wife, daughter, and son. Outside of work, he enjoys cooking, skiing, exploring architecture, traveling, and, most of all, his work!

Who are we

Jim Gatsonides (‘77)
Co-Founder & Portfolio Manager of Luvier Fund

Growing up in an entrepreneurial family, Jim witnessed the remarkable transformation of a small business into a mid-sized company trading on the stock market. Driven by a passion for business, he pursued his studies in Business Administration at Erasmus University of Rotterdam and McGill University, earning his master’s degree. After his studies, Jim took on various roles at the family company, Gatsometer, where he was entrusted with the critical task of investing the company’s excess capital in a long-term, secure manner to ensure it was available when needed for working capital.

When Gatsometer merged with Sensys Traffic AB in 2015, Jim saw an opportunity to dedicate himself fully to investing. His philosophy is rooted in the belief that while getting rich requires grit, staying rich demands wisdom. Jim is committed to building a lasting legacy of wealth through long-term, low-risk investments in resilient opportunities. Inspired by the tortoise in the fable, he believes that steady and strategic investments will ensure financial stability over time, rather than chasing short-term gains. This conviction led to the creation of the Luvier Fund in early 2024, reflecting Jim’s dedication to safeguarding wealth and maintaining its value over the long term.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Jim is a devoted family man who treasures quality time with his wife and their two young sons. He enjoys playing various sports and cherishes moments spent with friends. Jim’s drive and motivation are evident in every aspect of his life, from his career achievements to his personal endeavors, making him not only a highly successful individual but also a purpose-driven and approachable person.
